What is IMEG 3.0?

The Iskandar Malaysia Employment Grant (IMEG) 3.0 is a strategic incentive offered to companies in the state of Johor as a catalytic thrust to increase employment in the state. IMEG 3.0 is a grant program that is administered by Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA). The grant is targeted at specific groups and has a wide social agenda. This matching grant provides relief to hiring organisations by way of financial rebate against salary paid to Malaysian workers in the company.

Eligibility Criteria

The grant programme is open to Malaysian citizens only from designated target groups for employment with companies operating in the state of Johor Darul Takzim

Priority will be given to companies operating in 9 key promoted economic sectors (logistics & transportation, healthcare, hospitality & tourism, creative, financial services, education, electrical & electronic manufacturing, food & agro manufacturing, Petrochem & Oil & Gas manufacturing. 

Companies currently enrolled in wage-based upskilling / subsidy programmes offered by other federal or state government agencies are not eligible for IMEG 3.0 

Eligible Candidates

Limited Skill workers
Workers with a lower-than-average academic achievement score and is open to holders of academic certificate, diploma or degree with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) Score of 2.5 and below. This is open to academic qualifications from any field of study from a recognised institute of higher learning. 

Unemployed Graduates 

Fresh graduates with average academic achievement score and is open to holders of academic certificate, diploma or degree with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) Score of 3.6 and below. This is open to academic qualifications from any field of study from a recognised institute of higher learning. Candidates must demonstrate that they have not been successful in securing a job offer for a period of no lesser than 3 months’ post-graduation date. 

Women Workers
Female workers with academic qualifications from any field of study. Open to graduates with certificates, diploma or degree from a recognised institute of higher learning. Preference will be given to single mothers and those from vulnerable social communities. 

Retrenched Workers 

Workers who have been retrenched form the workforce from any industry. This includes workers who have opted for Voluntary Separation Schemes (VSS) or similar. Candidates who had been terminated by their previous employer on grounds of disciplinary issues will not be eligible under this category. 

Technical & Services Sector 

All graduates with Technical & Vocational Education Training (TVET) certificates, diploma & degree. Open to all fields of study and training from a recognised & registered institution of learning. 

Graduates from B40 income category 

Fresh graduates who come from a household with a combined income of RM4,850 per month. Otherwise, categorised as B40 household. 

Supporting Documents for Application

The following supporting documents are to be submitted along with duly completed application form. 

  • Copy of company SSM registration certificate. 
  • Copy of employment offer letter. 
  • Candidate curriculum vitae (CV). 
  • Copy of candidate NRIC. 
  • Copy of candidate education certificates. 
  • Copy of employment separation letter (for retrenched workers only). 
  • Evidence of combined family income (for B40 category only) 

The following supporting documents are to be submitted when making claims for grant payments. 

  • Copy of candidate salary slip.
  • Copy of candidate EPF payment receipt / copy of candidate EPF statement.
  • Copy of company bank account statement with account details for EFT payment

Grant offered

  1. 50% on Salary offered (RM 4,000 & Below)
  2. It will be disbursed to the company for 6 months
  3. 1 company can get maximum RM500k 

Payment Method & Terms Upon approval of application all payment of claims will be done on a quarterly basis via Electronics Fund Transfer (EFT) to the company’s registered bank account.
